Jennifer Pierro is an Italian American New York native. She was raised by her amazing hardworking & supportive parents Matilda and Richard Pierro. Matilda a Domestic Goddess with a huge heart, loving, loyal and the strongest woman she knows. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her 3 children. Richard a retired NYC Sanitation worker who worked his butt off to take care of his family. There was no limit to the amount of jobs he would work and could handle to make sure his family was well taken care of. It is these two amazing people that she would like to thank for making her the hardworking, strong, independent and determined woman that she is today and for their support in helping to keep her dream alive! She would like to thank them both from the bottom of her heart! Tiamo Bene!
She was born in Queens and raised in Putnam County NY until the age of 16 when her family moved to Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn. They enrolled her in St. Edmunds all girls catholic high school and let me tell you it was a culture shock for her! It took her a good year to adjust to this different world. You take a hick from upstate NY and stick her in the middle of big hair, mega makeup, name plates, initial rings, sweet sixteens that are like weddings and the letter “R”is now an “A”what??? Boy oh boy what an adjustment. Ha Ha!!
But guess what? She would not have changed that experience for a second. It added color to her life in a way that many do not experience. She met the girl who turned her onto acting class, she made amazing friendships along the way, she was able to grow up in the house that her mom grew up in and looking back now she is so grateful that Brooklyn was and still is part of her life. What a fabulous place to live that until this day she holds Brooklyn very near and dear to her heart!
She started studying acting at the age of 16 at HB Studio (Herbert berghof Studio) in Greenwich Village NY under the guidance of Jeanne Kaplan. Her mom would drive her down to class every Sunday morning and sit in the car for two hours waiting for her to finish. After class they would go for lunch and her Mom would listen to her stories. It was their very own special time together and memories she will cherish forever!
Her first day in class was actually a funny story because at the time she had no idea that Jeanne only accepted students in her class that were 18 years and older. Jeanne had no idea that she was only 16. She just assumed she was of age due to her “maturity, hard work and dedication”
(as Jeanne quoted) to every acting exercise thrown her way. The best is when she received her first monologue from “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” as Maggie the cat. Yikes!! She was only 16 and boy did she break out in red blotches on her chest. They laugh until this day over this story and how she has now opened the door to other mature 16 year olds. Thank you Jeanne for your many years of guidance and for pushing me forward. I am eternally grateful!
Over the years she has worked in and around NYC in Theatre,Film and TV and she co-founded a theatre on 42nd street called Manhattan Repertory Theatre that she currently runs with her boyfriend Ken. Her resume started as a blank sheet of paper on the back of a headshot and now it has years of experience and it keeps growing. She is so proud of her accomplishments and she will never stop this journey that she is on. No matter how big or how small the part, she will continue pursuing this dream until her last breath!
